Viva Riva Trailer

Riva is a small time operator who has just returned to his hometown of Kinshasa, Congo after a decade away with a major score: a fortune in hijacked gasoline. Wads of cash in hand and out for a good time, Riva is soon entranced by beautiful night club denizen Nora, the kept woman of a local gangster. Into the mix comes an Angolan crime lord relentlessly seeking the return of his stolen shipment of gasoline. Director Djo Tunda Wa Munga’s Kinshasa is a seductively vibrant, lawless, fuel-starved sprawl of shantytowns, gated villas, bordellos and nightclubs and Riva is its perfect embodiment.

Dead Presidents (1995)

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS EVER THAT HAS A KILLER SOUNDTRACK TO MATCH! DIRECTED & WRITTEN BY THE HUGHES BROTHERS, STARRING LARENZ TATE, KEITH DAVID, CHRIS TUCKER, BOOKEM WOODBINE, THE LIST GOES ON. THIS IS ONE OF THEM HEARTBREAKING FILMS, THAT IS EVER SO BEAUTIFUL.

The film is about marginalized folks whose options are limited and whose hopes are obliterated. There’s a compelling story in the first two acts of the film – young black male does everything he’s told to do, goes to war (Vietnam) and comes home to few options. This alone demands nuanced exploration. Yet, the heist takes center stage and overshadows the very raw, devastating story of dreams deferred and opportunities erased.

In this daring heist, the only color that counts is green”

city of god

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE GANGSTER/ROMANCE FILMS OF ALL TIME. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT!!! THAN YOU MUST’VE BEEN UNDER A ROCK SINCE 2002.

I am a big fan of foreign film, because its great to see directors with different points of view than the average American director. City of God is the epitome of a great foreign film. It shows the classic struggle between right and wrong, in a brand new way. The raw directing style, coupled with a great soundtrack makes for a movie which many different kinds of people can enjoy. Weather your a Harvard intellectual or the local idiot, you can enjoy this. The vicious cycle of the gangster lifestyle is portrayed with haunting accuracy. It even forces the audience to sympathise with some of the nastiest thugs in the world. All in all, City of God is one the greatest movies of my time and each time i watch it i enjoy it more than the last.

You’re invited to the party of the decade!
